Guidelines for Christian BurialServices of Christian burial are most appropriate in the church building. While we are willing to have them at funeral homes, we encourage people to use their parish church. The clergy are very glad to meet with the family before the service to discuss the details of the liturgy. The casket must be closed at the time of the funeral. When the service is at the church building, the casket should be placed at the back in position to go down the aisle. The church has a white pall which is always placed on the casket. Normally, the parish house parlors are available if desired for family gatherings before and after the funeral. No one is ever denied the services of the clergy and the church for lack of funds. It is always appropriate for family members to designate gifts, in lieu of flowers, to St. John's Church or to another charitable organization. |
